Toughness. This Is Soooo Good.
Apr 16, 2026I sucked in some air, gasping, electrified at stumbling across this superb description of a characteristic of Resilience.
Toughness.
I’m on a mission to help more people have that excited
Tell-Me-More!! feeling
that comes from learning something so useful that you can’t help but apply it and share it with others.
That’s why I create weekly Mini but Mighty℠ Leadership Lessons.
More people (especially those in the role of leading others) should have access to insight, inspiration, and practical tips that produce introspection and personal evolution.
We easily buy in to the concept of practice and learning for sports, hobbies, personal interests, and pre-career education. For some reason, we tend to let professional development drop as we gain and advance in our careers.
And our corporations let it drop, too often, too. Believe it or not, there are a lot of employees out there who never receive training, coaching, or enablement. You may have heard me repeatedly share the sad statistic from Gallup that less than half of our corporate managers have ever had any management training.
So, every week, Boss at the Helm publishes a brief but impactful lesson to help you level up through personal and professional development.
My reaction to a recent discovery about the term 📌 toughness 📌 and how it relates to resiliency was a gasping, "That is SOOOO good."
Recently, we launched a 3-part series on resilience because so many of us are tired and perhaps, we're feeling ready to fold, to give up, or crack under all the pressures and stress that we're feeling in life and at work.
While pulling resilience content from our Boss at the Helm courses, I also did some additional research and came across this fantastic nugget from scientists about toughness.
Toughness is one of several attributes we can hone and develop to build and strengthen our resilience.
📌 Toughness: To absorb shock or energy and bend or stretch without fracturing 📌
If you, or someone you know, could use some guidance on resilience or other leadership and mindset topics, please check out our Boss at the Helm channel on YouTube and this free 3-part series on resilience.
Be Well.
